GOVERNANCE UNIQUE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE RAILWAY CORRIDOR LYON-TURIN-MILAN
The international management of the axis Lyon-Turin-Milan today is unsatisfactory. In fact, the high share of historic railway greatly reduces the load capacity of the trains and the consequent limitation on the length of trains to 550 meters (on the Italian side) it requires the recomposition, with increased time and costs.
The completion of the work under the Fréjus railway tunnel has caused in recent years a number of restrictions of movement and influenced the quality of the service, resulting in the abandonment of this mode of transport. The proposed action, with reference to the agreement signed by Italy and France in January 2012 for the construction and operation of the new railway Turin-Lyon, supports the creation of a single entity responsible for the management of intermodal services.
