Action 6

DEFINITION OF PREFERENTIAL RATES FOR THE USE OF INTERMODAL

The intermodal transport must be competitive: considering the main difficulties, operational or not, the rail mode (broken load) and the specific difficulties related to the Alpine region, which require traction costs which may affect up to 60% of the total, the intermodal transport has economic convenience over long distances.

On the model of good practices identified in Europe, the objective of the support is intended to facilitate intermodal transport through a series of targeted financial support, for example, the exploitation of the regular combined transport services, the development of the Alpine highway railway, to research and to the individual users.

Other contributions can be targeted to support businesses in the early stages of use of intermodal transport, such compensating for any losses during startup.
